Purchasing a Tank
When looking for a turtle tank, try not to get the ones where there is a platform which takes up around ¼ of the tank at one end. Because of the turtles natural instincts to make sure that they can run away from predators, they find this to put them in a position where there is only one direction they could go to get away from danger. This being the case, some turtles will not go onto these type of turtle platforms. Ones that cover an area of the tank, but which offer a few directions for them to jump back into the water are a much better option.
Turtle Size/Growing
Turtles take around 15 years to grow to their full size (around 30cm) and can live beyond 30 years. Considering this, please make sure that if you are planning to get a turtle that you are in it for the long term.
